Winchester School of Art: Typography Workshop

Last week i was invited by the team at Winchester School of Art to give a 1 day typographic workshop focussing on type as image to 1 st year Illustration Students. Having given this workshop in the past its always good to see the students starting to grasp how type can work as a three dimensional object within its own environment. Thanks to all the students and staff who assisted during the day.

Time

Again, busy studio move. Re - Focus getting back on it, Victoria Miro Saturday found time to check Tal R and Doug Aitken show's - both excellent. Strong sense of narrative combining past present and future between both artists work in different format and process. Connecting time with the present. Now. Spatial awareness in a digital  environment. Keep looking around you.

Hepworth's Space and Form

Whilst we were in St Ives at the weekend it was great to see the home and studio of Barbara Hepworth. The actual studio spaces of which built alongside her garden were alot smaller than I had imagined considering both the size and complexity of some of the larger pieces often seen in context with her commissioned works. Also being able to view at first hand the sculpting tools and small maquette's together with further unfinished works built over time, space and form.
