Urban Wandering - Barbican
The Barbican has become my new front room recently during the excellent Urban Wandering program which is currently showing focussing on london. On friday Will Self, Lynsey Hanley and Andrea Luka Zimmerman discussed architecture, social housing and psychogeography. Andrea Luka Zimmerman's film Estate was shown which documents the end and of an iconic estate in Haggerston demolished to make way for more luxury flats. The discussion was chaired by film curator Gareth Evans. On Saturday the series continued with Mike Leigh's Naked. The film was projected using Mike Leigh's original 35mm reel and on Monday with a special screening of the filmmaker John Smith's London.
Hotel Therme drawings
Drawings mid travel between Switzerland and Cologne on the train from Hotel Therme envelopes i dug out of the studio recently.
Xerography Exhibition
At the weekend I checked out the Firstsite Gallery in Colchester which is a new contemporary art gallery in Essex. The exhibition 'Xerography' focusses on work made by artists and artists groups that have used the photocopier as the central process in their work(s). The exhibition has an amazing collection of work including really rare original works by Sol Le Witt and Bruno Munari's Xerografia bookwork amongst many others. Tim Peaks Diner - Festival Number 6
I painted this 'Owl Pot' canvas for Tim Peak's Diner at Festival Number 6 last weekend. Good times. Great to see the band Gulp in session at the diner on saturday. Check them out here:
